Rebranding and Visual Identity
Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC)
Who is IDEC? The Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) is a respected organization with a legacy of over 60 years, dedicated to fostering the exchange of information, improvement of educational standards, and the development of the body of knowledge relative to the quality of life and human performance in the interior environment. IDEC has been in business for over 60 years. Operating primarily across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, IDEC relies heavily on its online presence to engage its audience.
Project Objective: The goal is to rebrand IDEC, creating a modern, cohesive identity that reflects its mission and values while maintaining consistency across all platforms.
Target Audience:
Established Educators and Practitioners: IDEC’s existing members who value its role in fostering professional development and academic excellence.
Emerging Designers and Architects: A new generation of professionals IDEC seeks to attract, encouraging their involvement in shaping the future of interior design education.
After several meetings with IDEC, my team and I embarked on thorough research to better understand the unique challenges of rebranding an organization in the fields of interior design and architecture. Our investigation spanned similar organizations, industry publications, their work, and educational growth companies, providing us with a deep understanding of IDEC’s landscape. Using this knowledge, we created a collaborative board to gather inspiration and begin our creative process.
Challenges:
Bridging the Generational Gap: Explaining the rationale behind our design choices to a client base primarily composed of older individuals, while ensuring the branding effectively appealed to a younger audience.
Streamlined Communication: Managing minimal direct interaction with the entire client team and relying on a single point of contact to relay key messages and feedback.
